Sometimes people ask me why I use “unrealistic” colors in my shading. Well, because it is a painting, and if I wanted it to look like a photograph, I would take a photograph.
But I digress. This is Lucy. I think she looks like a beautiful elfin princess. And watercolor suited her.

I think your selfie is art.
Sometimes in art…
A typical Instagram selfie is all you need for inspiration.
Watercolor can be applied to paper that was never meant to withstand water.
Pen and paint can make an appearance on the same page.
Paper can be punctured to create room for light.
You don’t have to follow the rules and breaking the rules doesn’t have to be a statement. It doesn’t have to be profound. It can just be fun. It can just be art.

When We Called Her Grace
My gorgeous friend Abby disguised as Grace Ferrel from the musical Annie. She’s rocking a scarlet suit and holding a carnation she recieved for her amazing performance. It was too perfect not to paint.
(As a side note: This watercolor is the final instalment in my “Perspective Portraits” project. It’s been a fun semester!)

A Boy Named Brayden
The goal was simply to capture what I saw: a little boy, sitting in the sunshine, after a long nap.
This is the first from my Art Perspectives Project. I will be drawing the same subject from various angles. These are just sketches with a touch of watercolor.
A Start at Art
Just a quick glimpse at some art I’ve done (some from farther back than others). Different mediums + different subjects = an exciting exploration!
{p.s. Take a look at some of my picture portraits. You might spot a few similarities…}
